Chez Zee

26 Jun

Billy and I had a wonderful anniversary last night!  He did all the planning and surprised me with an evening out.  He did a little research on romantic restaurants in Austin and came across this place, Chez Zee.

He made a reservation for a private table so we were tucked in the back of this quaint little place.  The food was phenomenal.  And just as I thought I was completely stuffed, they brought out this cake that Billy requested.  Don’t worry, I found room to eat that.

I got a beautiful diamond necklace which I’m wearing in the picture below and the evening ended with the pianist playing our first dance song, Maybe I’m Amazed by Paul McCartney.

All in all, a perfect evening.

Happy Anniversary B!

Happy Anniversary Billy!

Can you believe it’s already been a year?

And what a CRAZY year it has been.

Here’s to many more!

(Just hopefully not as crazy, please!)

I’m so excited!

My parents are coming tomorrow!  Don’t worry, I’ll let you all know about our Texan adventures after they leave!

Can’t wait!

Also, the event planning business is slowly but surely making progress!  My sister just created this logo for me.  What do you think?

Numbers don’t have to be boring

19 Aug

I came across these table numbers the other day and I thought they were just so cute and creative.  It’s amazing how little things like table numbers can add a personal touch.  I used the standard “number” cards that matched the font from our invites, but I put them in a fun holder.  Thanks to our friends Maria & Lance who donated their personal cork stash, I sat one weekend with a glue gun, some twine and little purple crystals and came up with this:

This one would be so easy, and so fun!  Whoever though of this is quite the crafty one.

I’m not sure if this couple custom ordered these candles, but it looks like an easy DIY option would be to just buy plain votives from Michaels or Hobby Lobby and use stickers on the outside.  I bet those velvet feeling stickers would add a nice texture to it.

I thought this one was kinda weird when I first saw it, but then I realized what it was and went, “Aww”.  It’s a cute little knot!  Like, tie the knot, get it?  You are probably thinking yes, that was obvious.

Last but not least, sugar cookie table numbers!  I should have done this.  Anyone who knows me knows I love baking.  I’m sure you could find some cute clear boxes or fun paper to put the cookies on.  Plus, if you bake enough for each person at the table, it would double as your favor.  Perfect.

Happy Friday!

And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mrs. Laura Friesema!

Go big or go home

I’m a huge fan of BIG and TALL centerpieces at wedding.  I feel like a good amount of people focus on other aspects of the wedding and throw the flowers or centerpieces together at the last minute not realizing how much of an impact it has on the wedding.  So much of the reception is about the “feel” of the room.  When you walk in to the reception, you want your guests to take it all in and the centerpieces make a huge difference and help set your style.  Plus your guests sit and stare at them all through dinner so you might as well make them pretty, right?  My reception was in a refurbuished stable on the old Pearl Brewery grounds.  The room itself was amazing, and I wanted to play up the natural wood and rustic, vintage feel.  My florist, Sue, was awesome.  She has the cutest flower shop called Alamo Plants & Petals and after our first discussion she knew exactly what I wanted.

Can’t you see how the tall centerpieces give the room that little something extra?  Plus it makes the pictures look great having the flowers come out above the guest’s heads.

It doesn’t even have to be flowers.  Our friends Maria & Lance had centerpieces kind of like these but the vases were taller and they alternated the tables with flowers and vases.  It was a pretty effect.

This couple just used feathers, but it still gives it that big, bold look.

Obviously there are some pretty amazing short centerpieces out there too, but I just love the look of the tall.

Etsy Obsession

8 Aug

For as much as I talk about Etsy, you would think I had some sort of allegiance with them.  For the record, I do not.  If one is getting married, planning an event, looking for jewlery, doing ANYTHING, they should always check etsy first.  For those who haven’t heard of this website, its a place where crafty people can create their own small business.  It’s all handmade or vintage items and is a great place for someone looking to sell their creations.  You can find so many amazing things that you can often customize with your own colors or styles.  When I first found it, I knew I struck gold.

My sister is someone who should create her own etsy store.  I have been bugging her all summer to open up her etsy “shop” during wedding season.  For my bachelorette party, she created these super cute signs, decorations, sashes, etc.   All brides & bridesmaids are looking for something original and creative for their bachelorette parties that I know her shop would easily be a success.   Sally’s bachelorette decorations are shown here.  If she won’t create her own shop, I can at least brag about her on here.  If you want Sally to make something awesome for your event, leave me a comment and I’ll get you her contact info.  You’re welcome.
