Hill Country

16 Apr

Although it already feels like summer, its springtime in Texas!  And the best thing about spring in Texas is that it’s wildflower season!  You can see fields of wildflowers pretty much everywhere you look, its gorgeous.

Billy and I decided to take a little day trip to the hill country on Saturday.  We first stopped in Comfort, TX so Billy could attack this huge mountain biking ranch.  While he did that, Gus Gus and I took a little jog around the town.  I don’t think much has been updated since 1854 when it was established, but it was cute.  There were a lot of little antique shops and Gus made a bff with a woman who owned one of the stores.  She kept giving him little treats, so obviously he was smitten.

After we picked Billy up, we continued on to Fredericksburg, TX.  We stopped at this quaint little restaurant called Hondo’s and had a delicious lunch.  They have the best chicken strips in the world here.  And homemade parmesean potato chips.  Yum.

Our next stop was the Wildseed Farm.  It is the largest working wildflower farm in the country.  And it was packed!  The fields were gorgeous.

My favorite was probably the Rocket Larkspur.  Probably because it is purple.

Apparently the poppies were too much for Gus, he looks like he’s asleep.

It was a really nice day and we apparently wore Gus out.  He didn’t move the rest of the night.
